The Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) has signed a wage agreement with the Jamaican Government for the 2015/2017 contract period.
The documents were signed Wednesday morning at Jamaica House. It came a week after the teachers voted to accept the seven per cent wage offer. They will be receive four per cent increase in salary during the first year and three percent in year two of the new contract period.
The Teachers' Association joins most of the groups under the umbrella of the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions which have signed the deal.
The Police Federation, Nurses Association of Jamaica and the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association are the other major groups which are yet to arrive at an agreement with the Government.
