The National Works Agency (NWA) says it has not yet decided to suspend work on Marcus Garvey Drive and Mandela Highway projects with Hurricane Matthew approaching.
NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says the agency will be guided by information from the Meteorological Service and ODPEM before making a decision.
He added, however, that contractors will be on stand-by to prevent or mitgate the likelihood of flooding if the need arises.
Work has been completed by the NWA and the NSWMA to mitigate the flooding on Marcus Garvey Drive which was flooded three weeks ago because of heavy rain and blocked gullies.
