Medicanja eyes US$7 billion market

Dr. Henry Lowe

Medical Marijuana start up, Medicanja, is eyeing what it says is currently a US$7 billion export market, for its developing products.

Dr. Henry Lowe, Director of Medicanja, told RJR News on Friday that the main markets being eyed now, are in the US and Canada, but he said work is being done to develop others.

In that regard, he pointed to Europe where there is significant research taking place, as an opportunity for the export of a variety of products, including seeds "so you could get into Europe, once you meet the standards."

Additionally, he said, there were vast opportunities in the Caribbean, China and the rest of Asia.

Dr. Lowe has for years been one of Jamaica's leading researchers, looking into the medicinal value of various plants, including canabis.
