Men accused of stealing chicken from Caribbean Broilers, freed

Three men charged in connection with the theft of more than $4 million worth of chicken meat from Caribbean Broilers in 2016, have been freed.

Ricardo Plummer, Fabian Cole and David Daniels were freed on Wednesday when they appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court.

Prosecutors conceded that they did not have sufficient evidence in the case.

Mr. Plummer, a truck driver, as well as Mr. Cole and Mr. Daniels, who operate wholesale establishments, were charged in April 2016 after a truck loaded with chicken meat was stolen from Caribbean Broliers.

Investigators had reported that Mr. Plummer drove a trailer onto the compound of the company's Arnold Road complex and removed a container with more than 600 cases of chicken meat.

Some of the stolen chicken meat was reportedly found at shops operated by Mr. Cole and Mr. Daniels.
