Mum's the word: OCG's response to calls to investigate the NHT controversy

The Office of  the Contractor-General (OCG) is tight-lipped on whether it will respond to calls to investigate the National Housing Trust, NHT's controversial purchase of  the property on which the Outameni attraction is located.

Responding to an e-mail from RJR News, the OCG said it will offer no comment on the matter at this time. The brief  response was issued yesterday. On Tuesday, the island's three main private sector groups called for the OCG and the Auditor General to investigate the purchase of  the property in Trelawny.

The Jamaica Chamber of  Commerce, Jamaica Manufacturer's Association and the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, said the purchase appeared to be contrary to the Government's policy of divesting non-core assets.

On Tuesday Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller said the Auditor-General's Department will conduct a probe.
