Negril murder linked to lottery scam

RJR sources say Monday's killing of a woman and the wounding of four others in Negril, Westmoreland is linked to a suspected case of lottery scamming.

A police source revealed that investigators are probing an incident in which 18 year old Ombretta Jackson of Lime Tree Lane, West End in the parish, acted as a courier for men linked to the lottery scam in Negril.

It is understood that the masterminds behind the scam accused Jackson of withholding funds from the scam.

The police report that Jackson and other persons were at a shop when they were approached by two armed men who opened fire.

She along with four other women were hit.

The gunmen escaped on a motor bike Jackson was pronounced dead at hospital.

One woman was treated and released. The others remain hospitalized.

In a statement condemning the attack, Commissioner of Police, Carl Williams said no effort will be spared to find the gunmen.
