Neville Lee of Sonic Sounds dies

Entertainment Minister Olivia "Babsy" Grange, has paid tribute to former head of Sonic Sounds, Neville Lee.
 
Mr. Lee died in hospital on Tuesday night.
 
He was 80 years old.
 
Miss Grange said his contribution to the local music industry was monumental.
 
In a news release, she noted that Mr. Lee worked with his brother, the late Byron Lee of Byron Lee and the Dragonnaires, before setting up Sonic Sounds record distribution company on Retirement Road in St. Andrew.
 
She said he distributed records by greats such as Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, John Holt, Ernie Smith, Yellow Man, Jimmy Riley and Ken Boothe.
 
Miss Grange recalled that Mr. Lee was also involved in the formation of the Power House Label with producer George Phang from where the hit "Greetings" by Half Pint was released.
