Prime Minister Andrew Holness has said the National Housing Trust (NHT) will be spending billions of dollars this fiscal year to construct housing solutions.
Speaking at Sunday's public session of the Jamaica Labour Party's annual conference, Mr. Holness argued that his administration has outperformed the previous government in providing homes.
He said under the last People's National Party administration, the National Housing Trust constructed 1,790 houses in 2012, 1,689 in 2013 and 1,270 houses in 2015.
"You want guess how much housing solutions the Jamaica Labour Party government has started using the NHT in 2016/18?... Five thousand five hundred housing starts will be completed in this fiscal year by the NHT. That is more house than the previous administration did in their last three years," the Prime Minister declared.
