No evidence of electoral fraud in Portland Eastern by-election - EOJ

Glasspole Brown

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has said there is no evidence of  electoral fraud in the April 4 Portland Eastern by-election.

There were allegations that outsiders went to the constituency to cast ballots in the by-election which was contested by the Jamaica Labour Party's Ann-Marie Vaz and the People's National Party's Damion Crawford.

Director of Elections Glasspole Brown said no one has provided evidence to substantiate the claims.

He said there were checks and balances to prevent electoral fraud by ensuring that the persons who were casting their ballots were eligible to vote.

He was speaking Thursday morning on RJR's call in programme, Hotline.
