No re-run for Tufton as JLP confirms candidate for St. Catherine West Central

A declaration has come from the Jamaica Labour Party, JLP, that there will not be a second run-off  in the constituency of  St. Catherine West Central.

 

JLP General Secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, says the selection process is final. It was conducted last week with Councillor for the Point Hill Division of  the St Catherine Parish Council, Devon Wint, defeating former JLP Deputy Leader Dr. Christopher Tufton by 15 votes.

 

Dr Tufton raised issues over irregularities with the voter's list used in the exercise and wrote the party on the matter. Dr. Chang says Mr. Wint will represent the JLP in the next general election. He noted  "it is unfortunate that every time we have an election one of the losing candidate always complains. The system is not perfect but it would not have changed the outcome."
