One-year-old electrocuted in Alligator Pond, Manchester

The Manchester police are investigating the electrocution of a one-year-old boy in Alligator Pond, Manchester on Tuesday.

His father and care-giver are being questioned.

The child, who has been identified as Tyrese McDonald, was visiting his father from Brooklyn in the United States.

He was staying in an area of Alligator Pond, known as Back Bush.

Sources say on Tuesday morning, Tyrese was in the care of his grandfather, who went on an errand and left him with a woman.

The police say he was outside playing with other children when he strayed into a chicken coop which had illegally connected wires attached to prevent mongoose from eating the chickens.

Tyrese reportedly held onto the mesh wires and was electrocuted.

The police say the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has since conducted an operation to remove other illegal connections in the area.
