Oversight committee announced for Cornwall Regional Hospital rehabilitation

The Ministry of Health has announced the names of the members of an oversight committee for the rehabilitation of the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James.
 
In a statement on its website on Wednesday, the Ministry said the formation of the committee is to ensure accountability and provide transparency.
 
An introductory meeting of the committee was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Health.
 
The five-member committee is headed by Professor Archibald McDonald, former principal of the University of the West Indies, Mona.
 
Other members are: chemist Professor Ishenkumba Kahwa, architect Errol Alberga, civil engineer Earl Richards, and president of the St. James Lay Magistrate's Association Claudette Bryan.
 
The committee is mandated to review information from the Ministry of Health on the progress of implementation of key project areas for the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
 
The group is mandated to meet monthly or as often as it deems necessary.
 
Sections of the main building at Cornwall Regional are being rehabilitated due to air quality problems.
 
Some services have been relocated.
