Investigators have identified the driver of the vehicle which hit a policeman during a traffic stop in New Kingston on Thursday.

Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Corporate Communications Unit, said he is being urged to turn himself in.

She told RJR News that investigators have questioned the owner of the vehicle, who has been cooperating.

The policeman underwent surgery Thursday night on his badly injured leg.

It was reported that the driver of the vehicle was signalled to stop at the intersection of Worthington Avenue and Trafalgar Road.

He disobeyed, and hit the policeman before speeding away.
