Police called in to probe JUTC bus fire.

The police have been called in to probe Wednesday's fire which destroyed a bus operated by the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), after initial checks revealed it was caused by arson.

JUTC Chairman Garnet Roper last night declared that a full scale investigation will be carried out.

An investigation by the JUTC's Engineering and Technical Services Department revealed that the fire started above the engine bay. This is an indication that the fire broke out inside the bus.

Four JUTC buses have been destroyed by fire since 2013.

A decision has been made to increase security on JUTC buses.
