Police investigating burglary at Hill Side Primary

Phyllis Miller, Acting Principal of Hill Side Primary

Some classes have been suspended at Hill Side Primary in Islington, St. Mary, after thieves broke in and ransacked the school Sunday night.

Grades four and six resumed late Monday morning, however, all other classes have been called suspended.

Rain has also affected classes as the thieves removed some of the windows leaving classrooms exposed.

Acting Principal Phyllis Miller said calls have been made for a watchman but nothing has been done.

"We do not have a perimeter fence at the moment. We are trying to see how we can do (a) fundraiser, ask sponsorship to build a wall so that we can at least secure the front. But that can help so much but not alot. What we really need I believe, at the moment, is watching services," she insisted.

The police are investigating the burglary.
