Police to destroy counterfeit goods

More than a billions dollars worth of counterfeit goods seized by the police will be destroyed on Thursday. The items, which include clothing, cigarettes and alcohol, were seized over the last 12 months during operations led by the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Division (C-TOC).
   
Speaking at a media briefing Thursday morning, Senior Superintendent Clifford Chambers, Deputy Commander of C-TOC, gave a breakdown of the seized goods.
 
"The items recovered include over 6 million CDs, DVDs, 33,000 counterfeit footwear, over 25,000 pieces of Aprel, counterfiet cigarettes, bleaching cream, tea-shirts, Beats headsets, J. Wray and Nephew Overproof Rum, Lion Pride rollers, Viagra, Lipator, handbags - just to name a few," he said. 
 
The C-TOC Deputy Commander said the estimated value of the items seized in the last 12 months is $1.5 billion.
