Rousseau Primary mourns student run over by JUTC bus

Owen Speid, Principal of Rousseau Primary

Students and teachers at Rousseau Primary in St. Andrew continue to mourn the tragic death of 10 year old Jevon Elliott who attended the school.

He would this week have been sitting the Grade Four Literacy and Numeracy tests, as well as mock Performance Tasks for the Primary Exit Profile if not for his untimely death on Friday.

Jevon fell from the rear door of a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus in Portmore, St. Catherine while on his way to school.

He was run over by the rear wheel.

Owen Speid, Principal of Rousseau Primary, says Jevon will be remembered as a quiet student.

He says with his classmates preparing for their exams, every effort will be made to keep them focused.

Counselling sessions were held at the school on Monday morning.

The driver of the bus has been warned for prosecution.
