St. Elizabeth municipal police upset over unpaid fees

Tension is brewing between members of the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Police in the parish.

The problem stems from the non-payment of allowances to the officers.

The municipal police say the Ministry of Local Government informed them that they are entitled to subsistence allowances once they are assigned away from their work base at the municipal corporation for more that six hours.

However, they claim that the St. Elizabeth Municipal Corporation is asserting that their base is in the parish and not a specific location.

RJR News contacted officials at the municipal corporation on Wednesday but was told they were engaged in a meeting.
