Two drown in separate incidents on Easter Monday

Two drownings in St. Andrew and St. Catherine claimed the lives of an 18-eighteen-year-old youth and a 7-year-girl.

In the first incident, 18-year-old Naheem Terrelonge of Lawrence Tavern is reported to have drowned yesterday at the popular Sugarman's Beach.

According to reports Naheem was in the company of two friends when they noticed that a 10-year-old boy had got into difficulties. The three boys including Naheem rushed into the water in an attempt to rescue the youngster.

They  managed to rescue the 10-year-old boy, however they later realised that Naheem himself had gotten into difficulties. However by the time they went to Naheem's assistance strong currents pulled him to deeper waters. A search was undertaken up to late last night, however Naheem was not seen and presumed drowned.

Over in Gordon Town, investigators are investigating a suspected case of drowning involving a seven-year-old boy. She's  Dajanie Bennett of Mona Commons and a student of Mona Primary.

According to reports Dajanie was among family members who went  to swim at a nearby river in Gordon Town.

It's unclear how, however its reported that Dajanie drowned. Her body was later removed to the Morgue where a post mortem is expected to be conducted.
