A top level probe has been launched into the killing of two American missionaries who were ambushed in Albion Mountain, St. Mary on Jamaica's north east on Saturday.
One of the missionaries, 48 year old Randy Hentzel, was found shot to death about 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Then, shortly after 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, the body of 53 year old Harold Nichols was discovered by a search team comprising the police and residents. The body had bullet wounds.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ealan Powell, head of the Criminal Investigation Branch, told RJR News that the police had not yet ascertained a motive for the killings.
It's reported that the men disappeared while on the way to meet their team in Albion Mountain where they were constructing a house for a family.
Nichols
Terry Nichols, the wife of Harold Nichols, working with a Pennsylvania based medical mission, told RJR News that she and her husband had been bringing medical teams to Jamaica "every quarter for the last 20 years."
The couple moved to Jamaica in 2002 and since then have also been assisting in building small homes for persons "in unfortunate circumstances."
