UPDATE: Classes suspended at Cornwall College after Dean of Discipline attacked by parent

Michael Ellis, Principal of Cornwall College

Classes at Cornwall College in St. James were dismissed early on Tuesday after the Dean of Discipline was reportedly attacked by a parent at the school.

Michael Ellis, Principal of Cornwall College, told RJR News that the parent visited the school last week to complain about his son being bullied by other students.

He said the situation turned ugly Tuesday morning when the father of the student returned to the institution.

According to Mr. Ellis, while he and the parent were walking to his office, the parent saw a student he believed was one of those who bullied his son and accosted the student.

The Dean of Discipline intervened to prevent him from harming the student but the parent then turned his anger to the Dean of Discipline who "suffered some bruises."

Principal Ellis said the Ministry of Education and the St. James police are probing the incident.
