Westbound lane on Mandela Highway closed for two days

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists using the Mandela Highway that a section of  the westbound lane heading towards Spanish Town will be closed today and tomorrow.

The lane is being closed to facilitate drainage improvement works.

NWA Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw, says a short section of the lane heading out of  Kingston, between the Ferry Police Station and the Fresh River Bridge will be affected.
"We have a set of culverts that we have laid in the vicinity of the Hydel Group of Schools and we want to continue this process across the westbound carriage way. Because the carriageway continues to be in use, we are going to have to put in the short detour to facilitate the installation of the additional pipes."

He says during the period, traffic will be diverted onto the newly created embankment in the middle of  the road.

Repairs are expected to be complete by Monday.
