Former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) middleweight champion Peter ‘Kid Chocolate’ Quillin along with promoting agent Ranson Frank are in Jamaica to support 2015 Contender Series middleweight champion Kemahl ‘Hitman’ Russell for his non- title fight against Denny Dalton of Guyana on Saturday.
Since being crowned 2015 national middleweight Contender Series champion a year ago, Russell will be fighting in front of his home supporters for the first time .
As a result, his overseas agent Frank,CEO of Uprising Boxing Promotions and Sparring, and partner Quillin decided to work in Russell's corner.
However, with Russell set to have three fights in New York from July 22 through to December, his management team is having some challenges with the US Embassy as they seek a work permit Russell has gotten an appointment date in November but his manager Leiza May Keane is trying to have the date brought forward.
Come Saturday night on the championship card of the 2016 Wray & Nephew Contender season, Russell will be seeking to defeat the Guyanese Dalton, his second fight since being crowned national champion.
