Anxious wait for embattled Jamaican sprinter

The anxious wait for Jamaican Olympic sprint relay gold medallist Nesta Carter to learn his fate over his failed dope test from the 2008 Beijing Games continues.

This, even after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Thursday announced that two track and field athletes and six weightlifters disqualified after positive re-tests from Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Carter, who returned the doping violation for methylhexanaine from 2008, had his hearing before an IOC disciplinary panel on October 17, 2016. The two athletes disqualified are both from Belarus. Shot put bronze medallist from Beijing 2008, Nadzeya Ostapchuk and women’s hammer thrower Darya Pchelnik. 

Among the other six weightlifters who were disqualified from Beijing and London 2012 are three Chinese Olympic gold medallists.
