Bolt to run at London Anniversary Games

Voice of Usain Bolt's coach Glen Mills

Jamaica's reigning Olympic triple sprint champion Usain Bolt will fine-tune his preparations for the Rio Olympics by competing at the Anniversary Games in London on July 22.

Organisers of the event, staged at the stadium where bolt won double sprint gold and the 4x100m relay at the London 2012 Olympics, said the Jamaican world record holder would race in the 200 metres.

He is set to face the likes of Britain's European 200 metres champion Adam Gemili and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, the second fastest Briton of all time with a personal best of 19.95 seconds.

Bolt will be appearing for the eighth time at the London leg of the prestigious IAAF Diamond League and holds the meeting record of 19.76 seconds, set at Crystal Palace in 2008.

Bolt will run his first competitive 200 metre race of the season at the Jamaican Senior National Trials from June 30 - July 3 at the National Stadium and his coach Glen Mills says this decision is deliberate.

"I'm not concerned. If his 100 is up, his 200 will be fairly good. He'll run the 200 in London. Once we get past the trials he'll do some work for the 200. But we figure once we have the 100 where we want to be, then the 200 will fall into place," said the veteran coach.

The Rio Olympics begin on August 5.
