Former FIFA Gen Sec banned for 12 years

Former FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke has been banned from football and related activities for 12 years by the world's governing body. Valcke is the latest high-profile official to be sidelined from the sport.

In a statement, FIFA said Valcke abused FIFA's travel expenses policies and regulations.

Valcke was also being investigated on cases against him involving the sale of TV and other media rights. FIFA said he tried to obstruct investigations by deleting or attempting to delete several files.
