Guyana Jaguars increase lead atop PCL standings with win over Jamaica

Guyana Jaguars registered a strong 105 run win over Jamaica Franchise in the WICB PCL 4-day Championship, as the 5th round of the regional tournament came to an end on Monday's 4th and final day.

Resuming on 105-6 and chasing an improbable 340 to win, Jamaica rallied to 234, but it was not enough, as number-11 batsman Odean Brown made 45 not out, Jason Dawes 33, Damion Jacobs 36 and Dave Bernard Jr topscored with 37 against Ken Joseph 3-34, Ronsford Beaton 2-47 and Veerasammy Permaul 2-37.

The Jaguars grabbed 18 points from the encounter, 12 points for the outright victory plus 6 bonus points comprising 3 batting and 3 bowling. The Jamaica Franchise squeezed 3 points (bowling) from the match.

Final scores: Jaguars 314 and 202; Jamaica 177 and 234.

At Beasejour Stadium in St.Lucia, the Windwards Volcanoes scored a powerful innings and 148 run win over Trinidad & Tobago Red Force, while on Sunday's 3rd day, Barbados Pride defeated Leewards Hurricanes by an innings and 190 runs.

The Jaguars lead the table with 75 points, Barbados Pride have moved into second on 60 points, Jamaica Franchise have slipped to third on 53, Windwards Volcanoes are fourth on 46, T&T Red Force in 5th on 26 points and Leewards Hurricanes 6th on 11 points.
