Jamaica's rugby sevens team finished 10th on their debut appearance of the World Rugby Challenger Series in Vina del Mar, Chile on Sunday. The Jamaican's began day two with a 33-17 win over Paraguay before squeezing by Portugal 22-19. This was the first time Jamaica defeated a European team in rugby sevens.
In the 9th place playoff Uruguay got the better of the Jamaicans 33-0. The second leg of the series kicks off in Montivideo, Uruguay next week and will run from February 22-23. The tournament also serves as preparation for the intercontinental playoffs in June for this summer’s Olympic Games.
