Jamaican female assistant referee officiates in CONCACAF League

Jamaica's FIFA Assistant Referee Princess Brown was part of a history-making trio of female referees to officiate at the Scotiabank CONCACAF League. Brown, Karen Diaz of Mexico and Felisha Mariscal of the United States served as Assistant Referees during the just concluded first round.

For the first time ever, two female referees helped officiate the second leg of a knockout round tie in CONCACAF, with Brown serving as the assistant referee in the second leg of the CD Universitario-Diriangen series in Panama and Nicaragua and Diaz fulfilling the same role in the Portmore United-Santos de Guapiles tie. Mariscal was also one of the Assistant Referees in the first leg of the Perez Zeledon-CD Fas tie played last week.

A total of seven female referees will be used across the 2018 CONCACAF League and the CONCACAF Nations League qualifying, which begins next month. Brown will be joined by fellow Jamaican Jassett Kerr, Chantal Boudreau of Canada, Yudilia Briones of Mexico and Kathryn Nesbitt of the United States, that will have opportunities to officiate across both competitions.
