Jamaican hurdler moves closer to Olympic standard

Another Jamaican has moved into a strong position to make the Olympic qualifying standard for the men's 110 metres hurdles. Former Herbert Morrison athlete Teivaskie Lewin competing for South Dakota, clocked 13.68 seconds on Saturday at the NCAA West Regional Championships.

He won his heat and advanced 5th fastest from the region to the NCAA Division One Championships. He needs 13.47 seconds to make the Olympic standard which has already been achieved by Omar McLeod, Hansle Parchment, Deuce Carter, Andrew Riley and Tyler Mason.

Meanwhile, triple jumper Clive Pullen, formerly of Kingston College and discus thrower Shadae Lawrence also advanced to the NCAA Nationals from the west region.
