JDF dominate opening day of Senior Cup final

On a day when 16 wickets fell, the Jamaica Defence Force held the initiative at stumps on Saturday’s opening day of the two day JCA Senior Cup final against defending champions Melbourne with a 107 run lead at Sabina Park.

Electing to bat, the champions were dismissed for a paltry 103. After being solidly placed at 61-1, lost their last nine wickets for 42 runs. Joseph Palmer triggered the collapse, bagging 5-23, as well as pacers Sheldon Cottrell 3-27 and Reynard Leveridge 2-21. Steven Taylor 31 and Trevon Griffith 29, made most runs for Melbourne.

The army men closed on 210- 6. Sean Bennett is not out on 64 while Rasheed Outar made 58 and Palmer 31.

Palmer and Outar added 96 for the second wicket. Nikita Miller has so far taken 3-55.
