Voice of JOA president Christopher Samuda

Jamaica Olympic Association president Christopher Samuda has moved to allay fears following reports that France has registered a record number of imported cases of dengue, just three months before the start of the Paris Olympic Games.

There have been 1,700 cases across the country since the turn of the year, and it is proving a cause for concern ahead of the Olympics that is just around the corner.

However, Samuda is urging stakeholders not to panic in wake of news of the outbreak ahead of the games.

Additionally, Samuda says all necessary protocols re health checks will be taken before Jamaican athletes and officials leave for the games.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the majority of the cases in France originate from Guadeloupe and Martinique, where an ongoing "epidemic" is observed.
