JTTA presidential candidate lashes Ministry of Sports and JOA

Voice of JTTA presidential candidate Andrew Lue

Jamaica Tabale Tennis Association (JTTA) presidential hopeful Andrew Lue has come out swinging at the Ministry of Sport and the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) for what he calls a slow approach to resolving the current stand-off with president Godfrey Lothian.

It has been five months since a Supreme Court ruling deemed 2019's Annual General Meeting (AGM) and voting null and void and Lue says he is yet to get the attention of the Minister of Sports. "I spoke with an executive assistant who said he would get back to us but there has been nothing further.  We’ve been advised to seek an injunction in the courts but that’s pointless. It’s time to act now,” said Lue.

Lue says it’s a similar situation with the JOA despite making contact with two executive members. He has also revealed that he plans to take the matter further if both entities fail to act. “We are calling on the ministry and the JOA to act now, we need to hear from them now, not next week; we need to hear from them this week. If that doesn’t happen, we are going to take it to the international stage; the I.O.C. or the I.T.T.F will be hearing from us shortly,” he said.

Radio Jamaica Sports has also failed to get a response from Minister of Sports Olivia Grange in the last two weeks.

However, she had indicated that her ministry would address the matter. JOA president Christopher Samuda had also indicated to Radio Jamaica Sports that he would be meeting with Lothian and his challenger but that is yet to materialize.
