Kingston, Kensington and Melbourne record wins in JCA 50 Over Competition

Kingston had a 71 run victory over Lucas in round five action from the JCA All Island 50 Over Competition on Saturday. Kingston were first bowled out for 235 in 47.2 overs after recovering from 76-5 at one stage. However, Lionel Morrant with an even 100 that included 7 fours and six sixes, piloted their total.

He got good support from former West Indies Under 19 representative Odean Smith who made 28 while Robert Parchment got 26. Kenneal Green bagged 5-42 for Lucas.

In response, Lucas were bundled out for 164 in 35.1 overs.  Spinners Patrick Harty 5-18 and Javon Buchanan 3-15 did the bulk of the damage. Raymond Hall 46 and Shamari Harris 30, made most runs for Lucas.

Meanwhile, Kensington had a tense three wicket win over St Catherine Parish. St Catherine Parish were dismissed for 167 from 33 overs as Alex Johnson 29, Javoy Harrison 23 and Davoy Smith 22 made useful contributions.

Kensington got to 168-7 from 38.2 overs after they were reeling at 102-7. However, an unbroken 66 run 8th wicket stand between Dennis Smith 56 and Shamar Phillips 20, steered them to victory. Javoy Harrison was the chief destroyer with 4-41. Elsewhere, Melbourne eked out a three run win over Westmoreland.  

Melbourne first posted a competitive 256-6 from their 50 overs as Kimani Wilson stroked an unbeaten 69 while Shalome Parnell made 41. Jomo Thompson picked up 3-51 for Westmoreland. In reply, Westmoreland narrowly missed out as they were dismissed for 253.
