Miller's X1 prevails in final practice game

Voice of Jamaica Scorpions coach Robert Samuels

Nikita Miller's X1 defeated Paul Palmer's X1 by 2 runs in the Jamaica Scorpions final practice game at the Kensington Park on Wednesday.

Batting first, Miller's X1 posted 221 with Chadwick Walton top-scoring with 52 and Devon Thomas getting 28 against 2 wickets apiece from Gavon Brown and Jason Dawes.

In reply, Miller grabbed 4- 40 and John Campbell 3-17 in dismissing Paul Palmer's X1 for 219. Guyanese Trevon Griffith top-scored with 56 and Steven Taylor made 41.

Head coach Robert Samuels liked the competitiveness of the contest. “It was a good competitive game today (Wednesday) and these are the type of games you want because it shows exactly where you are but the two teams didn’t bat out their 50 overs so we are still not utilizing all the deliveries we are facing but we think we’ll do well in the competition (regional Super 50),” said Samuels.

The team will travel to Barbados on Saturday to contest  Zone 'B' of the tournament and are drawn alongside Barbados Pride, Guyana Jaguars, the ICC Americas and the Combined Campuses and Colleges who they will open their campaign against on January 24.
