Nesta's appeal now awaiting CAS verdict

Jamaica's World 100 metre bronze medallist at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia, Nesta Carter, had his appeal against the IOC stripping Jamaica's men's sprint relay gold medal team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics heard on Wednesday at the Court Of Arbitration for Sports headquarters, CAS,  in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The team was comprised of Carter who led off, Michael Frater, Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell who ran the gold medal race. Dwight Thomas ran in the semi-finals. That team was disqualified based on the IOC detecting the banned substance methylhexanamine retroactively in a 2016 test of Carter's saved sample - eight years after the original test in 2008 returned a negative result for any banned substance.

CAS is expected to hand down its decision in early 2018.
