Portmore United crush Arnett Gardens RSPL top-of-the-table clash

Defending Red Stripe Premier League champions Arnett Gardens had their 19 game unbeaten run snapped by leaders Portmore United who recorded a comprehensive 5-1 victory on Sunday at the Spanish Town Prison Oval as Tivoli Gardens was the only other winner on the day.

The league leaders were led by a double from Saneeke Burton who opened the scoring with only two minutes registered on the clock. It got worse for Arnett Gardens in minute 23 when veteran captain Oneil ‘Bigga’ Thompson turned a ball into his own goal. It was 3-0 before the half-time break when Ricardo Morris scored with two minutes remaining.

Burton returned for a second and his team's fourth in the 52nd minute with Fabian Reid getting a consolation goal four minutes later for Arnett. Javon East scored in the 87th minute to complete the 5-1 rout.

Meanwhile, Boys’ Town dug deep to earn a late point from their game against Humble Lion at the Barbican Complex. Steven Williams 22nd minute goal had appeared to be enough to extend Boys’ Town's misery this season. However new signee Bebeto McDonald's stoppage time strike restored parity for the ‘Red Brigade’. Tivoli Gardens continued their good run with a 2-0 win over Harbour View at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.

Andre Moulton put Tivoli infront in the 4th minute and an own goal by Ryan Wellington ensured the home side got all three points. Tivoli ended the game with 10 players after Sean Coleman saw red for a second bookable offence.

It was 0-0 at Frome in the game between hosts Reno and UWI FC and the same scoreline between Sandals South Coast and Montego Bay United at STETHS.
