Reggae Boy Morgan named in CONCACAF X1

Reggae Boy defender Wes Morgan is the only Jamaican to be recognised as being one the best eleven players in CONCACAF for 2016.

Morgan who skippered Leicester City to their first English Premier League title last year, is named alongside three other defenders in the team of the year. He's joined by Ronald Matarrita of Costa Rica as well as Rafael Márquez and Miguel Layún, both of Mexico.

Three other Costa Ricans led by Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas and two other Mexicans are included in the CONCACAF eleven

The CONCACAF awards are designed to honor the year’s outstanding performers and achievements in confederation-sanctioned competitions involving national teams at all levels and age categories, including FIFA World Cup matches and qualifying for both genders.

Votes from member associations’ national team coaches and captains, accredited media and fans each accounted for one third of the final vote.
