With an Audi player index score of 485, Jamaica's Andre Blake was the top-rated keeper in the 2017 Major League Soccer (MLS) season in the United States. Blake's player index score is over 175 points higher than the average among league goalkeepers. The Audi player index uses a data-based model to record and score nearly every action on the field.
For example, Blake's penalty save against DC United was worth 335 points for player index score, and each of his trademark diving saves earned 55 points. Blake made 88 saves, earned a career-high nine shutouts, and posted an impressive 1.31 goals against average, improving on his mark of 1.56 from last season.
The former University of Connecticut custodian recently finished second in the keeper of the year voting, following up his first place finish from 2016. The Jamaican international earned the Golden Glove award and a spot in the best X1 at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup as the Reggae Boyz finished runners-up to the United States.
