Reggae Girlz and coaching staff sign contracts with JFF

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Karen Madden

The Jamaica Football Federation has confirmed that members of the Reggae Girlz squad and the technical staff have signed contracts. The contracts are from January 2019 to August 2019 which will cover the Reggae Girlz' participation at the 2019 FIFA World Cup, the Pan Am Games and Olympic qualifiers.

The issue of protracted contract negotiations has been with the federation since the Reggae Girlz' qualification for the World Cup in October of last year.

The Reggae Girlz will play their final home game before the FIFA Women's World Cup when they face Panama in a friendly international at the National Stadium on Sunday starting at 6:00 pm. It will be a repeat of the final game of the CONCACAF Championship last October.

Meanwhile, Jamaica's female assistant referees Princess Brown and Stephanie Yee-Sing will officiate in the send-off game for the Reggae Girlz against Panama.

The female assistant referees will make history at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France when they will become the first Jamaican match officials (male or female) to work together at a senior World Cup event.
