RSPL quarter-final round playoffs get going

Four teams will be jostling for an advantage when the Red Stripe Premier League quarter-final playoffs get underway on Sunday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. In the first game of a double header, first time qualifiers Mount Pleasant Academy battle UWI FC at 5:30.

Despite the St Ann-based team beating UWI in all three meetings this season, they will be guarding against complacency come Sunday. Meanwhile, UWI FC is conscious of Mount Pleasant's solid defensive unit which has only conceded 19 goals this season.

In the evening's second game at 8:00, former champions Arnett Gardens clash with Cavalier. Cavalier have been unbeaten against the "Junglists" all season and are confident of continuing their good run despite Arnett's regular season showing.

Arnett Gardens’ assistant coach Orlando Clarke says this phase of the competition is where the best of the home team comes out, putting aside their inconsistent performances in the regular season.
