Scorpions versus Red Force contest evenly poised

The Jamaica Scorpions closed Saturday’s second day of the WICB Professional Cricket League in a pretty good position at 113-3, responding to 271 made by the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

The Scorpions trail by 152 with Andre McCarthy not out on 49 while Tamar Lambert is on 12. Captain Paul Palmer got 35.

Earlier, the Red Force who recovered from 145-5, were led by opener Jeremy Solazano who stroked 110 against David Bernard Junior 3-23.

In Guyana, the hosts were on top after a rain-affected second day against the Barbados Pride. The Pride closed on 60-4, still trailing by 277 runs. Veerasammy Permaul has so far taken 2 for 24.

Earlier, the Jaguars were dismissed for 337 with Vishaul Singh top scoring with 121, his second consecutive century against Kevin Stoute 3-36.

At Windsor Park, the Windward Islands Volcanoes recorded a comfortable 8 wicket win over the Leeward Island Hurricanes. The Volcanoes started the day on 104-5 and were dismissed for 140. Tyrone Theophile got 62 against Alzari Joseph 7-48.

The Leewards batting a second time were dismissed for 170. Jamaica's Nkrumah Bonner got a top score of 64 for the Hurricanes against Liam Sebastien 5-75.

Requiring 55 for victory, the Volcanoes reached the target at 56 for 2.
