Windies women seek to make winning start at T20 World Cup

The West Indies women's cricket team will be searching for a winning start to the ICC T20 World Cup as they face newcomers Thailand at the WACA in Perth on Saturday. The West Indies stunned the cricketing world in 2016 after winning the T20 World Cup for the first time in their history. They came close to securing back to back titles but fell at the semi-final stage in 2018.

Now, the Caribbean women are looking to reclaim their title, starting with debutants Thailand in their opening group game. While understanding the significance of the their historic appearance, captain Stafanie Taylor says the team has no plans to be complacent.

The Windies will also have to face the likes of 2018 beaten finalists England, South Africa and Pakistan in Group ‘B’. The Windies women will be hoping for a good start as they've only registered one win in their last seven T20 internationals.
